Passive Transport--substances the cell membrane down their concentration gradient. Osmosis--allows cells to maintain water balance as their environment changes. Active Transport--requieres energy to move substances against their concentration gradients.

Passive transport move substances from the cell membrane from a higher concentration to a lower concentration. Osmosis is the one in charge of water molecules and stuff, like letting them into the cells and take higher concentrations to lower concentrations. Active Transport is the only one that needs energy to do it's job of moving substances.
